The abuse is appalling but, in some ways, easier to deal with. These people who are so narcissistic in their own view of themselves that they convince themselves that they are not supporting prejudice and hatred and are being fair . Unfortunately, this is how people often react. It shows the level of toxic indoctrination and/or internalisation that cis/het shittery is the best way to be when LGBTQIA people support that side. I am disgusted at so many people. Thank you for keeping going with this. There was too much that was put up with and hidden in private for a very long time.

The mental contortions involved in painting oneself as a heroic victim for being mean to a marginalised group of people must use up an awful lot of energy, no wonder there seems to be none left over for empathy or logic, or intelligence. It’s quite frightening actually, because it demonstrates a mindset that views others’ boundaries and wellbeing as a hurdle to kick over, or an act of aggression – that’s an abuser’s attitude.
