It’s been a while since my last furry porn comic review but I’m back with one that I’m seriously so, so stoked to share with y’all. I’ve been reading it as a work-in-progress for months over at Yiffer, and at 85 pages to total I can confidently say that “A Show of the Ropes”, by Glopossum, is hands down one of the sexiest, most affirming, and generally best trans queer sex comics I’ve ever read and it deserves everyone’s attention! The story opens with Chloe, an adorable trans queer girl, who unwinds by masturbating to her favourite porn streamers, a pair of kinky trans girls. After having a stellar orgasm, Chloe falls sound asleep then wakes up the next morning for a job interview at a local coffee shop where, surprise surprise, she quickly realizes her favourite kinky trans girl porn streamers are both managers and their names are Beruca and Red. After Chloe accidentally refers to Beruca as “Mistress”, as if instinctively from her own fantasies while watching them perform, she and Red realize their interviewee may actually be a subscriber of theirs too. Choosing to hire Chloe for showing good work ethic and potential, Beruca invites her over for dinner when she hopes all of these potentially awkward facts can be discussed and worked through maturely.
And you know what? They actually are! While everything up until the dinner scene is undeniably adorable, flirty, cute, and builds some excellent horny energy, the conversation that Beruca and Red have with Chloe about her watching their porn is honestly both genuine and beautiful. Chloe explains how she’s always struggled a lot with navigating her sexual identity after transitioning, but it was through watching Beruca and Red that she started to learn more and more about her sexual self than ever before. It was revolutionary and showed her what she really wanted out of life.
By seeing two people with a deep understanding of each other, who trusted each other, respected each other, fulfilled each other, and communicated so clearly, Chloe began to yearn for that herself. But rather than seek it out herself, she instead experienced that connection by vicariously living through Beruca and Red’s streams. This hit me on a personal level as so much of my early transition steps, when I was first exploring what gender, sexuality, and pleasure, meant to me, were also actually quite heavily informed by various content creators I discovered who expressed relatable desires and experiences. I think there can be a lot of potential for intimate self-growth in ethically consuming erotic content, especially when that content is created by trans queers empowering themselves and their viewers through radical self-acceptance and a focus on sexual wellness and fulfillment.
But I digress! Needless to say, Chloe’s response takes both Beruca and Red by surprise as they undoubtedly weren’t expecting such a heartfelt and genuine answer. Red in particular expresses a ton of relief that Chole wasn’t just some horny stranger who simply wanted to fuck them both, that she instead saw them as real people and had a strong understanding of her own relationship to their content. From here it’s very clear that sex is absolutely going to happen, but now it’s also framed with genuine respect, consideration, and excitement!
Now, a lot of extremely hot sex happens between these three after their dinner together, but what makes all of that hot sex so memorable here is that it comes with some of the best character development, dialogue, and overall writing that I’ve ever seen in a furry porn comic. I mean, by this point in the story it should already be apparent just how good the writing is, yet I was still surprised by how it just continued to be stellar all of the way through.
Most notable is the excellent depiction of consent (as seen in the page above). The trio set up a safe word, check in with each other organically throughout, and each person expresses enthusiastic consent in a myriad of ways from animated head nods to loud moans of “yessss.” There is simply no question, at any point, that any of them don’t want to be there. They are all very clearly, expressively, thrilled to be boning each other. Frankly, given that so many sex comics, especially hentai, show a lot of sex with very dubious ethics, including outright manipulation and coercion, it’s nice to instead see something joyously and exuberantly consensual.
And as for the explicit porn content: it’s fucking HOT. At least to me it is. I’m a kinky as fuck trans queer and this whole comic is about kinky as fuck trans queers having kinky as fuck trans queer sex. You see lots of BDSM, bondage, oral sex, face fucking, anal, anal fisting, cum swapping, and more! It’s glorious. I won’t get into how it all ends here, but the conclusion is as thoughtful, wholesome, and sexy as the rest of the comic, wrapping things up quite perfectly.
“A Show of the Ropes” is not just furry porn at it’s best, it’s sex comics in general at their best. Glopossum has written one of the most endearing, most playful, engaging, uplifting, thoughtful, and yes, hot as fuck, erotic comics I think I may have ever read and I’ll be recommending it for years to come.
